Using T-Mobile phones on Wind or Mobilicity

There has been a lot of confusion in the market with which phones can and cannot be used with Wind or Mobilicity. Both Wind and Mobilicity run on AWS (Advance wireless service) which is a 3G protocol competing with the HSPA or HSPA+. But its not GSM. This is where i feel the confusion is. T mobile USA (TMobile UK will not work), Wind Mobile and Mobilicity both operate on 1700/2100 MHz AWS. Most phones from these carriers will work with each other. T-Mobile also has GSM, so that's why i wrote most! FYI: Blackberry will make the same model twice.
1. HSPA + GSM - Rogers, Fido, Bell, Telus, Koodo, Chatr(they currently don't have data)
2. AWS - Wind and Mobilcity

Here is the list of phones from T mobile that will work with either Mobilicity or Wind. These are the current phones that T-Mobile sells.

Motorola CLIQ 2™ with MOTOBLUR™
T-Mobile® Comet™
Garmin-Asus Garminfone™
LG Sentio
Samsung Gravity 3
Nokia E73 Mode
LG Optimus T
Samsung Gravity T
LG dLite
Samsung :) t359
Motorola CHARM™ with MOTOBLUR™
HTC® HD2
BlackBerry® Curve™ 3G
T-Mobile® myTouch™ 3G Slide
Samsung Vibrant™
Motorola CLIQ XT
Motorola DEFY™ with MOTOBLUR™
T-Mobile® G2™ with Google™
T-Mobile® myTouch® 4G
HTC® HD7
Samsung Behold® II
Samsung Galaxy Tab™

Now, its not just as easy as buying one from T-mobile and slapping in your wind Sim and it will work. Realize that every phone usually locked to the carrier their from. in order to use these lovely phones from T-Mobile on Wind or Mobilicity will require unlocking. We at Value Mobile can also help you with unlocking them.

  1. This is great, i was confused about the phones i could use with Wind mobile as I don't really like the phones that Wind's sells. But a lot of T-mobile phones look sick! Thanks for this. Which do you think is the best?

  2. These T-mobile phones are way better than the crappy cell phones that Wind and Mobilicity sell. I am also wondering which cell phone would be the best from the list. BTW i want it to work with Mobilicity as they have awesome coverage in my home and Wind doesn't work in my basement.

  3. T-mobile HTC HD7 tested on Wind and Mobilicity. Works like a charm. I use Wind mobile as my Mobilicity never worked at my home :(

$40 Winter Wonder plan from Wind is the best deal around in all of Canada. At least with reception. Wind has to fix their sound quality as it is crap!!!

  4. I've got a Mobilicity and my wife who travels to Mississauga has Wind mobile. What do you think of using the Google Nexus S or the Google Nexus One cell phones to work with both carriers cause they factory unlocked anyways. I can interchange if we chose one Google Nexus S and one Google Nexus one. From what i know, the Google Nexus S is newer and is made by Samsung and the Google Nexus One is made by HTC and is older. I was reading and found many Google Nexus S users complain about the battery, how it has a short life. Battery life is important to me but I really like the front camera so i can use tango video calling my grand daughter in New York.

    thanks

  9. The T-mobile cell phones are way better than the crap that Mobilicity and Wind Mobile sells. Dont get me wrong, there are a few cell phones like the Google Nexus S or Blackberry 9780 that are great and now Wind Mobile launch the LG Optimus 2X which seems great, but overall Tmobile has a much better selection of cell phones. Mobilicity seems very poor and probably will fall off the map within the next few years, but WIND Mobile has money!!! Wind Mobile will be the only ones alive out of the new carriers that came out last year in Canada. I dont see Public Mobile doing anything either... Mobilicity is a joke. I had their service for 2 days and returned it. Shaw has not started yet, but at least they have deep pockets.

i hope to see the iPhone come to Wind Mobile and not Mobilicity. I dont think Mobilicity customers will pay for an iPhone 5 or iphone 4s.

i have the Nexus S on Wind and Wind Mobile service is pretty good. There are a lot of hot spots that the phone does not work at all. But Wind mobile should fix the GTA before the move on to other areas. South Aurora has terrible reception. I live Downtown but visit friends all over the GTA. At at least have proper coverage where you say you have coverage. Smarten up WIND MOBILE

  10. Is the t-mobile galaxy S 4g is also compatible with mobilicity?

  11. The T-Mobile Galaxy S 4G -

The T-mobile cell phone has these specs:
    850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz;UMTS: Band I (2100);UMTS: Band IV (1700/2100)

Wind Mobile and Mobilicity both use 1700/2100 frequencies. The only issue you may have is setting up the access points for the data usage. If cell phone unlock, just pop in the sim card and your phone calls and text messages should work. If you have any issues catching a network it could mean that in the
settings > wireless networks > Mobile Networks > Network Operators > Select Automatically

  12. can I use the new tmobile HTC Amaze 4G on Wind?
It says that it has all the frequencies, but before i buy it i want to know:

    a) will everything work?
    b) will i get 21mbps like the phone can do?

I really want this phone in white and I know that Wind will never sell this.

  13. The Google Nexus Prime from Tmobile will work, right? I am sure that Tmobile will get the new nexus way before wind or mobilicity gets it. And since they both will sell the phone i am assuming that the tmobile one will work

  14. I've got Motorola Charm MB502. New and unlocked. It does not work with WIND. It only can see WIND AWAY roaming network, can get calls but cannot call itself.
The system version tells me it was built for telus :
    (Blur_Version.0.0.2395.MB502.TELUS.en.CA)
    Any suggestion?
    Please help,
    Thanks!
